Windows Vista Pre-Release Candidate 1.

Kristan Kenney wrote an article on Longhorn blogs about a true load bearing client operating system at last.

In this he mentions how Window XP never was able to handle more GDI handles than the limt in spite of increasing it.

He checks the same with Windows Vista Pre-RC1 which was released last week and describes the enormous work that Microsoft has done in terms of multitasking and performance in Windows Vista.

I just happened to get my hands on the pre-release RC1 of Windows Vista build 5536. Installation was fine and smooth and is the same as the previous builds where a page shows the current task that is being done.  In fact the installation took around 30 minutes to complete which was much higher than the estimated time of 15 minutes predicted by Microsoft.

Now coming to the performance when getting started with this build 5536, it has truly impressed me that a lot of work is being done in Windows Vista and it is truly on the way to final shaping. Performance is smooth and there is no hassles when running multiple applications and the Side bar has done well with the new gadgets. Many of the new gadgets like weather. stock, clock and currency convertor has gone a great change.
Now that I have just installed the build last night, it will take some more working to get a feel of the many changes that has undergone in Windows Vista.

As I end this, I just came across another article that the CPP (customer preview program) is now closed and you will have to wait for the RC1 (Release Candidate 1) due next month.
