WMF Patch released

Microsoft released a patch for a vulnerability in a Windows component used to render WMF (Windows Metafile) images. This serious flaw which was detected last week posed a serious threat, since the affected systems included Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003. Also Microsoft released the patch 5 days earlier than the planned date of Tuesday 10th January as part of its regular monthly release of security bulletins.

Microsoft’s patch contains a new version of the vulnerable Windows component, a DLL named GDI32.dll. The patch works for the supported operating systems for which the WMF vulnerability was critical: Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003.

Happy New Year 2006

As the new year 2006 dawns it is time to wish you all a VERY HAPPY and PROSPEROUS NEW Year 2006.

As I reflect back on my events in 2006,  I had a wonderful time and a lot happened. Some of my best moments were (1). The Asia Pacific MVP Regional Summit at Singapore (2). The Global MVP Summit at Seattle. (3). The trip to Seattle, Salt Lake City, New Jersey, Pittsburg, Buffalo (Niagara Falls), New York and finally (4). receiving the "Persistent MVP Award of the Year" at the MVP Regional Meet in Gurgoan, India.

My most unforgettable moment was on the "Maid of the Mist" on the Niagara Falls. The boat ride to the base of the falls was one of the most memorable trip as I looked at the water falling from 176 feet high and marvelled at the beauty that God has created. This beautiful moment is captured in the picture below and here you will see me on the right with my best friend Harish.
